From the Tutor Index homepage footer, click on a subject or area you would like tutoring services for. The next page lists tutors that specialize in the particular subject or tutor in that specific area.
Panel Advertisements
On the side panels throughout the website, there are Panel Ads for a variety of tutoring services. Click on these ads to view the tutor’s profile page, Directory Listing or website and find out more about what they have to offer.
Online Tutoring
Click on the “Online Tutoring” link in the header at the top of each page to search for tutors who offer online tutoring services. Select the appropriate subject area for a list of relevant online tutors.
How do I know if I have found the perfect tutor?
Finding the perfect tutor isn’t just about choosing an experienced candidate with the appropriate subject matter expertise. A good tutor knows how to keep students focused on learning and achieving their academic goals. To find the right tutor, ask yourself the following questions about each candidate during your search.
- How many years of experience does the candidate have as a teacher or private tutor?
- Does the tutor conduct one-on-one lessons, group lessons, or both?
- Does the tutor have the necessary subject matter expertise to help you?
- What grade levels does the tutor work with?
- Has the tutor worked with other students your age?
- How successful has the tutor been in helping other students achieve their academic goals?
- Has the tutor seen an improvement in his/her clients’ academic performance?
- Does the tutor have a list of references you can contact?
- Where does the tutor offer lessons?
- How many lessons will it take to see a noticeable improvement?
- How many other students is the tutor currently working with? Will he/she have enough time to help you?
- Can the tutor be easily contacted if you have questions? How and when can he/she be contacted?
- How much does the tutor charge?
- Do you trust the tutor? Can you see yourself working with him/her on a regular basis?
- Can the tutor motivate you and inspire you to learn?
Does Tutor Index screen the tutors listed on the directory?
Tutor Index is a directory where tutors can advertise their services online. We are not a tutoring company. We do not screen, interview or recommend any tutor. Students and parents are responsible for performing their own due diligence during their search for a suitable tutor.
