I have found great success as a tutor because I know how to explain difficult concepts to struggling students. Because of the breadth of my knowledge and education, I can easily explain complex concepts in a number of different ways until I find the approach that works best for each student. I tailor my teaching method to each student based on their unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. I keep my tutoring sessions relaxed and stress-free, while still pushing my students to challenge themselves and reach new academic heights. I believe that each student is capable of so much more than they realize, and it is a thrill and a joy to help unlock their potential for success. I also have experience helping students with college admissions essays as well as admissions counseling and preparations. My essays have helped me gain admission to Columbia, Yale, and Johns Hopkins.
For students with difficult schedules or that live far away, I am available for online tutoring as well as remote essay and project revisions. If you have any specific needs or requests, please contact me. I am flexible, and am always willing to work around what you or your child needs to reach your academic goals!

MCAT
For individuals considering a career in medicine, the MCAT is a crucial step toward realizing their dreams. The MCAT is a standardized exam that assesses students’ problem solving, critical thinking and writing skills. It also measures candidates’ knowledge of the biological and physical sciences, a key requirement for the study of medicine.
The MCAT exam is necessary for admission to nearly all medical schools in the United States. It is used in combination with a candidate’s undergraduate G.P.A., extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, interviews with admission officials and other factors to make medical school admission decisions.
The test is administered from January to September each year, and students can take the test up to three times in one year.
MCAT Format
The MCAT is comprised of the following four sections:
- Physical Sciences. This section includes multiple choice questions designed to test students’ knowledge of the physical sciences.
- Verbal Reasoning. Students read passages and answer multiple choice questions about what they have read. This section measures candidates’ reading comprehension skills and their ability to draw reasonable conclusions from the information provided.
- Biological Sciences. This portion of the exam includes multiple choice questions that test students’ knowledge of biological sciences concepts required for the study of medicine.
- Writing. The writing section contains two, three-part essays designed to assess students’ critical thinking and reasoning skills as well as their ability to communicate effectively in writing.
MCAT Scoring
MCAT scores vary by section. Scores for the physical sciences, verbal reasoning and biological sciences portions of the exam are based on the number of questions answered correctly. No points are deducted for incorrect answers and scores range from 1 to 15.
The score for the writing section is determined by the quality of the candidate’s responses. Each essay is scored by two readers for a total of four scores. These scores are converted to an alphabetic scale ranging from a low of J to a high of T.
A total combined score for the three multiple choice sections and the writing section is also reported.
Preparing for the MCAT
The Association of American Medical Colleges recommends that candidates begin preparing for the MCAT at least three months before they are scheduled to take the exam. There are many resources available to help students prepare for the test, including sample questions, study guides and practice exams. These materials can help students identify the material that will be covered on the exam, so they can target their studying appropriately. In addition, reviewing practice materials gives students an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the test format, the type of questions they will be expected to answer and the instructions for each section.
For students who need additional instruction, MCAT prep classes and MCAT tutors are also available. Both of these options provide a more structured study environment to help students prepare for the exam and maximize their scores.
