Description:
Trex Tutoring is South Florida's source for affordable and convenient tutoring. We cover most subjects for all ages. Competent, fun tutors come to the location of your choice. Registration is free. No contract. Start/stop/take a break whenever you like. No required prepayment, pay on day of service. No minimum number of hours. Two hours per week are recommended for best recall. Seven days a week, daytime or nighttime. We will do our best to meet your desired schedule. All tutors have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and are experienced with children and/or tutoring. All tutors are background, credential, and reference checked so you never have to worry. A one hour deposit is required. It is refundable, but most clients use their deposit to pay for their last session. We can provide materials if you don't have any. Online/virtual school classes are also covered. Test prep including SAT, ACT, ASVAB, FSA, PERT, etc. are available too. We look forward to working with you or your child. Thanks!

ASVAB
Introduced in 1968, the ASVAB is an aptitude test that helps predict future success in the military. It is required for enlistment in the U.S. Armed Forces. The exam is administered at Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS). There are 65 stations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It can also be administered at satellite locations for candidates who don’t live near a Military Entrance Processing Station. Candidates can retake the exam one month after their first test date. If they want to take the exam a third time, they must wait one month after their second test date. After taking the exam three times, they must wait six months to take it again.
ASVAB Administration
Two versions of the ASVAB are available—computer and paper and pencil. In general, MEPS administer the computerized version and satellite locations administer the pencil and paper version. The exam is comprised of the following sub-tests: general science, arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, mathematics knowledge, electronics information, auto and shop information, mechanical comprehension and assembling objects.
On the pencil and paper version, each subtest is timed. When candidates complete a subtest, they may review and change their answers on that subtest only. They may not review previous subtests, and they may not start working on the next subtest, until the facilitator instructs them to do so.
The computer version is adaptive, which means questions are chosen based on the candidate’s response to the previous question. Candidates who answer correctly receive more difficult questions, while those who answer incorrectly receive less difficult questions. In addition, candidates taking the computer version proceed at their own pace. When they answer a question, they go to the next until they have completed the exam. They are not allowed to go back and review or change their responses to questions they’ve already answered.
ASVAB Scores
Pencil and paper test scores are available within a few days of taking the exam. Computer scores are available at the completion of the exam. The test is scored on a standard scale in relation to a national subset of 18-23-year-olds.
In addition to an overall score, candidates receive a separate score for the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT). The AFQT is a combination of scores earned on the Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Word Knowledge portions of the ASVAB. Scores for the AFQT are reported as a percentile. The percentile is based on the performance of a group of examinees who took the test in 1997.
ASVAB scores are used to determine whether a candidate is eligible to enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces and what jobs they are eligible for.
Preparing for the ASVAB
The best way to prepare for the ASVAB is by taking English, math and science courses at the high school or collegiate level. Prior to taking the exam, candidates should familiarize themselves with the format and content of the test and review sample exam questions, so they know what to expect on the day of the exam. ASVAB tutors are available to help students who want an in-depth review before the test.
